Following EPA's flagship expedition Ride to Independence, which takes place in February 2026, EPA will go on to provide a number of equestrian activities for other para-equestrians.
EPA plans to run an annual overseas expedition. Each group will consist of at least 1 disabled rider and a support team, who will complete the expedition themselves whilst providing the support needed for the disabled rider to successfully complete the expedition.
In preparation for each expedition, EPA will facilitate team building weekends in the UK, which will provide the space and time for the team to get to know each other and learn how best to support each other. As well as providing the opportunity to ride together and develop strategies to overcome any physical barriers the disabled team member may have (such as needing assistance to mount/dismount, identify specialist tack/equipment needed), it will also give the whole team the time to benefit from being outdoors and interacting with each other in an environment comfortable to all.
For para-equestrians who wish to participate in UK based adventures/activities only, EPA will be offering day and weekend equestrian activities at riding centres/providers around the UK, with participants able to take part in hacking/trekking, jumping and competitions (all at a suitable level to the needs and abilities of the individuals)
Co-founders Steph and Jon Quintrell have a big vision for the future of EPA. As well as continuing to offer overseas equestrian adventures for disabled riders, they plan to open a UK based equestrian centre which will provide a wide range of equestrian activities to those living with disabilities and additional needs.
The centre aims to provide ridden and non-ridden experiences on a working yard environment, offering ridden options in all the major equestrian disciplines and activities ranging from day to day horse care, lunging, equine therapy based activities in 'real life' settings and extending to providing work experience for disabled adults/those living with additional needs who are interested in working in the equestrian industry.
The vision is big, but we really do believe that the impossible can be possible and with the right supporters, we can make this happen.Â
